jazz-ie fizzzzle

odd title, no? describes both parts of my post: photos of my cousin playing at his last jazz coffee house, which i went to go see; and my odd experiment with color&my brother's clothes...fizzzzle

Always love me some live music that hasn't been synthesized, just pure sounds

now that's a lot of color! very unusual to my normal palette which consists of blacks, grays, white, and a variety of blues. I admit I kind of like all of the color... :)

lots of love!

going to the korean music festival tomorrow (very last minute), I haven't been keeping up with that scene lately but i'm sure it will be good fun anyways.

the pearl

this is going to be a random post.

Old pictures of homemade sticky rice with mangoes as I prepare and gear up for my missions trip to Thailand.

Vertical color blocking nail polish, because i couldn't decide which color to try from my friend (i think the tinfoil silver is my fave). Obviously my handy work needs some improvement.
I've been re-reading the Pearl by John Steinbeck.

Lastly, I just want to say again how addicting Adele's voice and new album is! Listen listen listen! I really want to go to one of her concerts because it would probably be disgustingly epic and beautiful.

lots of midterms love xx

attack the senses

this time i appeal to the stomach as well as the eyes. Lately everything that inspires me is baking and being in nature (though this LA weather is really putting a damper on things...)

Lost in an ocean of color

Nutella Peanut bars

Matcha Sweet Potato Mochi Cupcakes

The roses in my yard bloomed this past week to remind me that spring really is here. Happy Easter Sunday as well! Remembering the sacrifice that Christ has made for us. Looking back on this year I can't express how much God has changed my life and the way my faith has grown. Thank you, Jesus for being that middle man. <3

lots of love

to maxi or not maxi....

the maxi dress/ long skirt. not for everyone?

i love maxi dresses to death because they are so insanely comfortable but i feel so picky about criteria for them that i only own one and its black& boring :( long skirts are another issue. i love the look of when girls style them up casually with knits and such but i feel like that wouldn't work for me who is wide hipped and have thighs that aren't rail-sized. however i think im willing to start being more open to actually trying them on because one day i would like to pair something together like this

 or this..
 or this style..
or my favorite, which is a floral maxi, jean jacket, &boots... all that i love

inspired! inspired! lots of love

attack the senses

[HAHAHAHA! not true myself but Elaine would say that]

another installment of "attack the senses" i think this is going to be a weekly thing...maybe. just another hodgepodge of inspirations from the week and bits that i find that i like.

this week it was/is all about braids, penny loafers, overalls re-inspiration by Beth Jones, and tumblr attacks. enjoy!

lots of love! it's Palm Sunday!

bounce with me, bounce with me..bounce with me, BOUNCE!

thank you, DJ OZMA for that phrase.

why should you bounce with me you may ask? Because it's healthy for your heart! Today i experienced trampoline jumping on a whole new level. Through AIRobics!

May i just say that it IS as fun as it seems, but its also suuuper hard workout! I started sweating within the first 5 minutes of the warm up, and even though we didn't get to finish our session I still feel like i worked out hard. (aka my legs are sore) And its so cheap! $7 per person just to jump up and down for an hour in a trampoline room?! yes please! Think of it like a big kids moon bounce.

If you haven't noticed I'm feeling pretty jazzed about it. check it out! Unfortunately the locations are far from me, but if you are in that general area i encourage you to check it out! Work on your legs, balance, core, and coordination all for $7. steal? i think so

lots of healthy love :)

"little darling, its been a long cold lonely winter..here comes the sun, and its alright"

Beatle's genius. After constant pingpong weather it was 80 degrees the other day in LA! So decided to wear shorts when I went out with my sister to jamba juice (2 for $5! :O) with my first pay check (YAY!).

I just want to say that I am a regular sized girl..if not a little bigger so this is not for the girls that are skinny as my wrist. i'm 5'8" and over 100 pounds and thats okay! if i was 100 pounds i'd look like living death. there's nothing wrong with being skinny and of course i try to be healthy but stick-like is just not who i am. just wanted to put it out there.

very similar to the powerhouse voice, Adele, who's song i am addicted to

lots of love

lazy dayz

after being quite stressful today at school i was pleased to remember that i didn't have to work at night, so i went home early and lazed around. not too terribly different than every other day except more time to laze.

however one thing different was that i had a conviction to bake. specifically make mochi cake. annnd after going through a grip of different recipes i jumbled them together to create my own version from what i had readily on hand at home (not wanting to go out again to buy ingredients came with the laziness)

i played with the recipe to see how it differs. One is plain in a  greased pan with oil, while the other has sweetened coconut on top  in a pan greased with butter.

Mochi cake recipe
  • 1 box of mochiko flour (1 lb of mochi flour)
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups of milk *
  • 1/3 cup of vegetable oil
  • sweetened coconut flakes (enough to sprinkle on top) optional
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease pans with either oil or butter. Mix together all of the ingredients except for the coconut flakes.  pour batter into greased pans and sprinkle desired amount of coconut over the top. Bake in oven for approx. 45-50 minutes or until tester comes out clean and the top is nicely golden with edges lightly brown.

Let stand and cool for a few minutes before loosening the edges with a knife. Slice and enjoy hot, cold, or lukewarm :)
*i used fat free and the consistency still came out chewy and dense*

happy cooking, friends. lots of love

to you, mr. pricklepants

rough transition. i forgot that i didnt post any pictures of my baking attempt this past weekend.

sooo back story:
my good friend is slightly obsessed with hedgehogs, so when toy story 3 came out and he found out that there was a hedgehog character..well..he was excited to say the least. anyways fast forward to this past weekend! it was his birthday on saturday so a bunch of us decided to surprise him with dinner on friday and make him cupcakes decorated like mr. pricklepants!

end result came out..okay haha good for the rush and mess that was made in the process and i like to think that we were pretty creative with the limited materials that we had. the cupcakes are supposed to be made like this.

ours came out like this...

obviously a lack of gum drops, talent, and proper tools not quite as pretty but still fun :)

happy birthday again paddington bear :)

true hodgepodge

life has been feeling very stressful and tiring these past days. With birthdays that i planned, preparing a luncheon fundraiser for my missions trip to thailand this summer, work becoming more hectic, classes starting to get serious, etc etc etc. i dont know where to begin or where the end will be...

a few things currently taking hold of my mind:
-am i truly committing to going to thailand for the right reasons? not for my glory but for the Lords?
-can i still study abroad? im still afraid to go away for so long to a country that has just been shaken up by a tragedy..
-gotta start/ finish those missions forms due sunday
-gotta start/ finish those baptism forms
-my weight
-the feelings i hold toward members of my family that feel like they are hindering my spirituality
-relationships with my friends that seem to be falling apart left&right
-i have a test tomorrow. always :(
-general money troubles that plague everyone's minds

sorry this is such a downer post, but this blog is an outlet soo there it is. my thoughts, feelings, etc. i'm going to be needing/doing a lot of prayer these next days&weeks.

lots of love from a stressed mind
