attack the senses

Inspiring, even from Thailand?! Unfortunately not. No matter where I believe that some visual inspiration is needed for the week to become guided as to your wardrobe, moods, look, etc.

So what is the inspiration making it's way to your minds this week? COLOR

Most of these have come from one of my most favorite sites, Cracker Your Wardrobe.

Brilliant color pops, right? I agree..amazing!

Short attack on your senses, but hopefully you're inspired to attack color in your wardrobe and be outside the box :)

be anxious for nothing

In 30 hours I will be set up in Thailand and there to stay for 2 weeks teaching and spreading the Gospel to high school students. A little anxious/nervous would be an understatement. I am beyond my mind right now, so much so that I can barely pack because this doesn't seem real. Too bad this is cutting it down to the wire since I leave in exactly 12 hours for the airport. .....

With this I will not have access to upload and blog everything wonderful that happens as it happens but a few "attack your senses" installments might pop up every now&then :)

To stay tuned with the team, as well as myself who will be blogging there on occasion : Thailand Team 2011

I expect to be riding elephants like a pro when i'm back, but for now i say adieu for a bit!

lots of lovee, dear readers!

bread or pudding?

BOTH! but not like you would think. When one is left with 2 loaves of bread in the house, lots of milk, a craving to bake, and a need to clear food out of the house before leaving on a trip-- it means making bread puddin' :)

I have tried countless times before to make moist, flavorful bread pudding but i had failed until i found this recipe a few days ago! Since this discovery i have already made it twice and both times it was a hit with everyone who ate it!

So let's begin on this magical journey of bready pudding magic..
step1: Find your bread! Left over bread is better than fresh because it's slightly harder, so it will soak up the milk/egg but still leave a slight crunch on top.
step2: Pour your melted butter over. *note- butter does not need to cover every/all pieces of bread*
step3 (*optional*): If your heart desires this is when you add your add-ons. i.e. chocolate chips, raisins, nuts, etc.

Step4 [not pictured]: Mix your wet ingredients together in no particular order with your sugar&any other spices you so desire

step 5: Bake at 350 degrees for about 40 minutes or until the top is slightly golden. It will look something like this...
don't fear the flecks aren't pepper! I added ground cinnamon in this one
step 6: DEVOUR! hot, warm, lukewarm, cold-whatever your heart desires! enjoy :)

  •  bread - enough that when broken into pieces covers the bottom of your pan adequately
  • 2-3 tbsp butter (*depends on amt of bread used; i also used salted butter and the taste was still good)
  • 2 c. milk (*I used 2% for a lighter taste)
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 3 eggs - beaten before adding to milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • *1 tbsp pumpkin spice* optional [i enjoy the flavor, but not necessary]
  • 1 c. chocolate chips/your choice of add ins
This recipe is so easy to change up with whatever flavors you prefer, and the best part is the simple ingredients that pretty much everyone has in their houses! I'm not one for having heavy cream sitting around the house or french bread, so if you're like me then this recipe is for you!
Try it and let me know how it goes! Questions about the recipe? Comment below :)
If Hello Kitty likes it then so will you! happy baking!

eat your heart out america

In my family all celebrations, whether big or small, equals good food. Which can explain why i have the body of a hippo...but thats a discussion for some other time. Right now we are going to indulge in some food porn and let our foodie imaginations run wild.

It began(on the Fourth) with OATMEAL! ...okay not super exciting but incredibly tasty!
I like to add a little wheat cereal for crunch, bananas for creaminess, and frozen blueberries for a temperature balance :)

The rest of the day went like this...
 fresh strawberries+chocolate lined pie crust=
Oviously it means fresh strawberry custard pie with chocolate crust
And you thought it was eaten separate...silly goose.
Of course, what would be a 4th of July dinner without cool, crisp melons? YUMS
Deliciously beautiful caprese salad made by my aunt
Finally rounded off the night with my strawberry pie and a peach pie

All around super good eats :) what did you eat on fourth of july?

One of the greatest moments of my life.

June 26, 2011 is my second birthday, because I was baptized and have been reborn, once again, through Christ. It was a hectic day with rehearsals, luncheon, pictures, more pictures, etc...but in the end I was so blessed to be surrounded by my family and friends that came to support me in this step of faith.

more photos on fbook :)

let's play catch-up

Let's start with Father's day celebrations in this rewind catch up! We took my awesome dad to try Oinkster in Eagle Rock since he loves his pastrami. I got the special at the time, which was the Reuben sandwich as pictured ^above. (i love reubens)

My sister being herself with a Burger Royale with cheesee

The aftermath.
Next in the lineup... my friend's graduation party :) Such a cute backyard setup with a western theme and hay bales!
The graduate with her crackling pig :)

Everything that screams summer backyard party: real mason jars with fresh yellow roses&good food. look at those antioxidants! yums.

Fun ways to start off the summer celebrations. Stay tuned for baptism pictures and a special announcement!
