attack the senses

This week is shaping up to be horrible...in not so many words. LA is seeing gloom made for June and fall quarter for university is already kickin' my butt. All that dreariness deserves a bright pick me up, sooooo the I offer colorful inspiration.

So add some color to your wardrobe! Put on a yellow sweater in the gloomy weather! Try a bold new nail color!
Just because summer is over doesn't mean all the color should disappear from the world. Be the sun if the real one won't show it's face from behind the clouds. :)

HIPSTERLYFE

Okay. I gave in.....to the polaroid fad! Of course I don't want to actually buy a polaroid camera because the film is sogoshdarn expensive, but I will download an app for it via Poladroid project :)

Naturally with a new app I had to try it out at least once...or twice...alright, I went polaroid happy. However I think they are still cute, so check out my week's activities:

Hanging with friends, walks with grandma, perfect heels at Target, continual maxi lovee, cocktails next Huntington beach, weddings.

the fur coat & the sarong

I love weddings. They make me happy because they are not just beautiful, but they allow women to let their creative spirit run free. Especially now are more&more interesting ideas being put forth for wedding decor, gifts, invitations, and even venues!

This past saturday a distant cousin got married in huntington beach at a hotel right near the water. They started the ceremony right at sunset and the cool breeze was so refreshing at night during the reception that was simple yet glamorous.

Too bad it was awkward that my sister&I hardly knew anyone there, so we decided to borrow some of my grandmother's pieces and have a derpy photoshoot. prepare for the worst.
The most amazing fur coat that I wanted to borrow from her for the rest of the night but decided that taking my grandmother's coat would not be the best idea.
Next was the scarf which was a brilliant red. Able to be worn as a cape, head covering, or a sarong...all in one! The options one can find while messing around at a wedding.

I bet you thought this was going to be a heartfelt post about marriage&weddings but instead it turned into farce. Live a little!

attack the senses

Now go ahead & tell me that you aren't hungry to go travel

Not quite "eat.pray.love." but i'm sure you can guess the theme/my inspiration for this week. With the start of more classes&a midterm this week my mind will be more focused on cooking to distract me from studying and wanting to be in far off places hiking.

have a good week, friends!

p.s. anyone have any suggestions for exciting places to hike? :)

flashback.

This past week I watched Sixteen Candles & The Breakfast Club with my sister, and needless to say, I was inspired.

First, Molly Ringwald was glam
Classy yet in with the time. Leather jacket, boots with midi skirt, layered cotton dresses with tees, crop tops, pleats, pink. love it all.

Secondly, Olive from Easy A's got the right idea..

If none of this is registering with you do yourself a favor and go rent these right now. Inspiration from the past and classic pieces are trending right now, so dig up those old sweaters&try those highwaisted jean shorts on again because they are back.

Can you see it?

You're the Light in this darkness
You're the Hope to the hopeless
You're the Peace to the restless
You are

There is no one like our God

There is no one like our God

- God of this City by Chris Tomlin

This past Saturday was the first ever Harvest Crusade for Christ in LA at Dodger Stadium. I have been to a crusade or two before but the out pouring at this one was like nothing I have ever seen before. When Greg Laurie invited people to answer the call from God to join his family the field was so filled with those wanting to join&renew their faith that the fire marshall had to stop people from stepping on the field. Have you ever seen such an outpouring of passion for the Lord like that?

Worshiping led by Chris Tomlin with 5,000 others around me is such a great testament to the passion for Christ in this city.

attack the senses

IT'S BACK! That's right, folks. This section of klueless hodgepodge has not ceased and neither has my love for scouring the internet in search of awesome photos.

Since there is a change of seasons going on (summer --> fall) I figured this would be the theme. Let's get our fall caps on&buckle down for more unpredictable weather! ..oh wait. that is just LA..
Crostini appetizers make for a delicious summer to fall treat
Moving from neons to warmer fall colors
Summer neons with a jumpsuit option for the cooler months. Karen from WhereDidUGetThat has the right idea for seasonal transitions

Time for school again. This little girl is going green in her mode of transportation for the new year

Fall/Winter catalogues are coming out, which means the time for coats&pants are drawing near and blistering winds are rearing their ugly heads this way. With that enjoy this truly hilariously beautiful ad campaign from Lanvin:

This week is shaping up to be crazy busy! How is your week looking? Hopefully you are all taking advantage of the last of these summer days to go outside&do something fun :)

let's play catch up

Pumpkin cupcake with nutella frosting &chocolate sprinkles
I feel like it has been ages since I last blogged...and even longer when it had anything to do with hipster things like fashion. Here are a few snapshots of what my past weeks have been like. Lately my time has been filled with adjusting back into school/scholarly mode with classes beginning & reevaluating myself in light of my retreat with church. However in all of this I took a nice break this past weekend and went up to Santa Barbara to visit a dear friend&did some experimental baking for ちちの誕生日 on Labor Day. Enough of these words. BACK to the pictures :)
All those creative juices from the ORANGE you glad it's friday? post went into making myself a quick&easy cork board!

Laying back & examining God's creation at retreat
Kayaking spot in irwindale
Tanning by the pool& train rides in SB

How was your Labor Day weekend?

p.s. look forward to bacon maple cupcakes & good finds :)
